List of iPhone chips: Here's what the A-series chip is in each model

Curious to know what chip Apple has installed in its iPhones over the years or what Series A is in your current iPhone? What about the chip used in the original iPhone? Read on to check out the full list of iPhone chips for what’s been in every iPhone model since 2007.

Apple emphasizes what its iPhones can do rather than the detailed specs that power them. But a big part of that is creating its own SoC (system on a chip) for its devices that are fine-tuned to work as powerfully and efficiently with iOS as possible. This all really took off with the iPhone and led to the A-series chips on the iPad as well as the Apple Silicon M-series that made their way to Macs.

An example of this impressive hardware/software engineering came in 2019 when the iPhone 11 Pro Max with 4GB of RAM beat the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ which has 12GB of RAM in a speed test. The tight integration between iPhone and iOS hardware was more than an 8GB memory difference. The same is generally true for iPads and Macs compared to Android tablets and PCs.
